The Piston Engine Revolution

Date: April 14, 2011 Location: The Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester

The conference takes place at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester, 14th-17th April 1011. It will consist of twenty-two papers on the History of Internal Combustion Engines and includes papers from Italy and the USA. The papers will be delivered Thursday afternoon, all day Friday, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning. This leaves Thursday morning and Sunday afternoon free for travel.

On Thursday evening there will be a Public Lecture given by Graham Mottram on “Early Aero-Engines 1900-20”, and on Friday evening there will be a Conference Dinner held in the Power Hall at MOSI. On the Saturday afternoon there will be a visit to the famous Anson Internal Combustion Engine Museum to view their working exhibits.

Lunches on Friday and Saturday are included but not on Thursday or Sunday. Refreshments will be available at the start of each morning, at mid-morning and at mid-afternoon. All delegates will be supplied with copies of papers as they are published in the Transactions of the Newcomen Society.
