A lecture by John Sreeves.
The spectacularly scenic Welsh Highland Railway closed in 1937 after only 14 years of operation. However, the trackbed and structures remained intact with the tantalising prospect of reopening. Nature took its toll but 74 years later the dream was achieved. This lecture tells how the infrastructure was restored after years of neglect.
The speaker is a Welsh Highland Railway volunteer as well as Associate Director of the Halcrow Group Ltd with 25 years experience in transport infrastructures.
Doors open at 6.30pm for the meeting at 7pm. There is a pay-bar which may be serving snacks and drinks in the building before the meeting. Visitors are welcome and admission is free.
