The Society has cancelled the three-day Summer Visit to Birmingham that was due to take place from 28^th– 30^th August.  The main technical visit to Castle Bromwich Works had to be called off due to a maintenance shut-down, scheduled since the Summer Visit was first planned, and there was a considerable risk the Summer Visit would incur a loss.

The Summer Visit was designed to dovetail with the separate University of Birmingham Conference on James Watt. The Watt Conference however is still running from 30^th August to 1^st September 2019.  (see www.jameswatt.scot/2019/01/30/wattconference).  The Newcomen Society is strongly supporting the Watt Conference.
